Today, the art of graphics is considered as one of the most important factors in the promotion, signaling and dissemination of political, social and cultural knowledge. In developed societies, graphics is one of the most important elements of social life.

Graphic design plays a critical role in TV and cinema commercials, packaging of goods, store sign boards, window letterings, street and public decorations in places like hotels, airports, subways, restaurants, parks and various sports venues or arts and cultural centers, graffiti on walls and vehicles (such as buses and subway trains), billboards and large-scale advertising like pictograms and symbolic signs, etc.

Environmental graphic design (EGD), as one of the branches of graphics, plays an important role in achieving the above-mentioned goals, and covers a major part of advertising and commercial activities. It is through environmental graphic design that human can communicate with their surroundings as well as with other people. Environmental graphic design plays a crucial role in creating a desirable and pleasant atmosphere for people in the community, a suitable environment where human beings can grow and prosper without unwanted psychological pressures, which is one of the rational and logical demands of any society. Environmental graphic design means the visual beauty, order and harmony of the space. By EGD, we mean all the graphic designs for indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as creating a space for a lively, healthy and convincing life. Environmental graphic design can be divided into two types: two-dimensional or flat and three-dimensional or volumetric environmental graphic designs. Distinguishing one place from another, beautifying, ordering and integrating the urban space and expanding the scope of graphic art activities are among the goals of environmental graphic design.
